Trinity Church Council News & Notes
Below is a summary of key items and/or actions taken at recent Council and Voter's meetings:
- Appointed Jason Leimbach as a delegate to Lincoln Lutheran and representative on their Board of Directors for a 3-year term. Mr. Leimbach will also join the Council as the LLSA representative.
- Met with Neal Koch of the District Office to hear a presentation on the handling of large, undesignated estate gifts. As a result of that meeting, Trinity adopted a policy, to be reviewed annually, which states that undesignated gifts (estate, life insurance policies, etc.) will be divided as follows:
- 25% for mission work outside of Trinity (Ysleta, Pa Jok, Mission Central, LCMS World Relief, Food Pantry, City Mission, Lutheran Family Services, church worker scholarship, etc. )
- 25% for ministry projects within Trinity Church & School (church & school enhancement, elementary & Lincoln Lutheran tuition support, Stephen Ministry, continuing education, etc.)
- 50% into a Trinity Foundation endowment
- Concerning the lawsuit filed against us by Chateau Development regarding our easement on the land just east of the school (the wooded area between the school playground and Deadmans Run)
- We were informed on Aug 12th that Chateau has dismissed the lawsuit. This means that, at least for now, Chateau is no longer challenging the validity of our easement.
- However, the saga will continue as the NRD would still like to acquire the property for their flood water detention plan. Since the parties could not reach a purchase agreement, the NRD may invoke “condemnation” to acquire the property. If that occurs, an independent appraisal value will be assigned to the property and Chateau and Trinity will receive some financial settlement based on that assessment.
- Legal expenses thru the end of June were just over $11,250, with the first $5,000 covered by insurance.

Debt Elimination Campaign Update
As of August 17th, actual contributions totaled $349,064, which includes $90,000 of debt forgiven by the Foundation. WE ARE OVER 85% TO OUR COMMITTED AMOUNT OF $410,957! We’ve completely repaid all of our debts (LCEF conventional loan, 2008 operational loan, committed amount to Lincoln Lutheran’s “Live the Vision” Capital Campaign, internal Restricted Funds accounts, & all funds borrowed from the Foundation). Consistent with campaign planning, we’re now starting to apply remaining receipts to special projects (such as the kitchen remodel, school roof, etc.). To date, campaign expenses are at $2,661, well below the budgeted $5,000. Thanks be to God for the blessings bestowed on this campaign and thanks to everyone for their continued support.

Freedom to Serve, Freedom to Teach, Freedom to Grow ……………. PRICELESS!!!

Word and Sacrament
Trinity is a congregation that stands on God’s Word in and out
of the pulpit. We regularly celebrate the sacraments for the
building of our faith and community. |
  |
Christian Education
Trinity supports Christian education for all ages, cradle to
grave. This support includes parochial education for our
children in the form of a preschool, elementary school, Lutheran
association middle and high schools, Lutheran colleges and
seminaries. Trinity is also committed to helping all its
members grow through regular and diverse Bible studies meeting at
various times and various places, some lasting only 4 weeks while
others lasting 2 years. |
 |
Traditional Worship
Trinity continues to worship in a liturgical Lutheran manner.
Though we celebrate mostly with organ music and chanting, bell
choirs and trumpets, are also open to drama, visuals and some
contemporary music. We consistently try to keep worship stimulating
and effective, while maintaining our Lutheran integrity and
tradition. |

 |
Caring Relationships
Trinity is a caring community that seeks to build relationships
among its members and extend those relationships to others uniting
them to Christ and His body of believers. Emphasis is placed on
assimilating new members in and keeping active members from becoming
inactive. |
