Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!  (Psalm 98:4)

At Trinity, our children live and breathe music!  Teachers take time, many of them every day, to sing with the children during devotions and other times throughout the day.  Upper grade student-led devotions provide time for children to choose hymns and songs that fit with their chosen devotions.  All Elementary classes (Kindergarten-5th Grade) as well as the Early Childhood (Toddler, Preschool, and Pre-Kindergarten) sing anthems during our weekly Chapel services throughout the year.  In addition, all children are offered the opportunity to participate in organized music time during the week.

Early Childhood students have exploratory music “center” time available once a week where they have the opportunity to “try out” a variety of classroom instruments.  Students also participate in God’s Little Love Bugs, our Early Childhood choir.  The Love Bugs sing for 4 worship services throughout the school year.

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade have music classes twice a week.  During the year we will focus on music theory, basic note recognition, rhythms, and playing classroom instruments.  In addition, they are part of our Trinity Singers.

3rd through 5th Grade students have music classes twice a week.  4th Graders have one of those times set aside as recorder instruction time, and this group will perform for one worship service as well as a handful of Chapel performances.  Students in these grades continue working with classroom instruments in a variety of settings and also begin learning some basic music history.  The Trinity Singers is our K-5th Grade Choir, and they will participate in worship at least 7-10 times in the school year.  They also sing in an adjudicated performance in the annual Gathering of the Talents at Concordia University.  Recent years have seen greatly-received, blue-ribbon performances!

Worship is the primary outlet for our choral performances.  Both choirs will sing at Trinity Lutheran Church during the year.  The Trinity Singers also participate in worship at Redeemer Lutheran Church and Holy Savior Lutheran Church as part of our worship experiences in the year.

We also have the great opportunity to join our voices together through our large musical productions.  The Early Childhood performs a Christmas program at School, and the Elementary children perform their Christmas program at Church.  Both groups spend music class time learning songs and actions which will augment the musical performances as we tell about the birth of Jesus.  Our All-School Musical is a spring event when all our children (Toddlers -5th Grade) come together to perform, and again, the children are dedicated to creating an outstanding performance.

Additionally our 5th grade students have the opportunity to participate in a beginning band program, if they are interested, offered to Trinity students by the Lincoln Lutheran Jr/Sr High band teacher.

“Soli Deo Gloria!” are the words we live by with our music at Trinity:  TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
